Making the most of spring

The large, soft pink and white blooms are hard to miss, and have been brightening up entire neighbourhoods thanks to the size these shrubs and trees can grow into. They’re easy to grow, and with a bit of knowledge of pruning can produce beautiful specimens offering shade and structure to any garden.

Speaking of blooms, roses are another favourite that are hard to miss when in flower, and we’ve paid careful attention to rose pruning through springtime. The hot summers of the past few years have potential to cause problems for some rose varieties, and so  it’s worth paying them a little extra attention.

We use a very careful method of pruning, together with a nutritional boost in the form of a good layer of mulch wherever possible. This should ensure the best conditions for the season ahead and proliferate flowers. Roses can be very successful if chosen according to soil quality and location – a brilliant source of inspiration is David Austin Roses.
